The House Armed Services Committee has vote to split the US Air Force leading to the founding of the US Space Corps . The move makes the US the only body politic presently with a branch of the military dedicated to outer space , but not everybody is happy with this .

Although this is the first unexampled military offshoot produce in the US since 1947 , it has been investigated as a possible action since the other 2000s . The general idea is that the space race take off in an uncontested surround with little wallop on civilian life history and it is now very much a share arena full of crucial technologies . The subcommittee thinks that this would be well defended by a separate group .

“ This is an issue the subcommittee has meditate for months and I ca n’t even tell you how many confluence with space expert and leadership Jim [ Democratic Rep. Jim Cooper ] and I have had on this subject , ” Rep. Mike Rogers ( R - AL ) , Chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces , state .

“ We both have come to the same ending – that the Department ca n’t define itself on this , Congress has to step in . And that is why the Mark creates a new Space Corps within the Department of the Air Force , under its Secretary , but disjoined from the Air Force itself . It also re - establish a Space Command as a sub - integrated command under U.S. Strategic Command . ”

The subcommittee think this move will help the US conserve their strategic advantage in space . But not all members of the citizens committee were equally proud of with this as the mark - up   ( proposed legislation before it is passed ) was only discussed in a duo of meeting .

“ This is candidly the first time I ’ve heard about a major reorganisation to our Air Force , ” Rep. Martha McSally ( R - Ariz. ) , a pull back Air Force colonel , toldFederal News Radio .   “ This is sort of a disgraceful manner to take heed about a very major reorganization to our war machine , and I think it deserve at least a couple hearing and discussions on the issue at the full committee level . ”

Rep. Michael Turner ( R - Ohio ) voice similar concerns claiming that he only learned about the proposal the week before . It was n’t just extremity of the subcommittee unhappy with the move . People in the armed force have vocalize their care too . But Rogers said that he did n’t bear them to squeeze the   reforms .

“ These change wo n’t be easy and will be disruptive in the short - condition , but our opposer will never be less capable than they are today – we must act now if we care to maintain the advantages the U.S. military obtains from by mesh in , through , and from space , ” Rogers added .

The House will vote on the marriage offer when it devolve from its recess after July 4 .
