James Gunnis clarifying thatDavid Corenswet’s real face is all that is on screen in thelatest trailerfor hisSupermanmovie.
Gunn, 58, went onThreadsMonday, Jan. 27, to respond to a fan who suggested that computer-generated imagery was used to alter Corenswet’s appearance in the final moments of aSupermanteaser that aired on television on Sunday. Fans took notice of the issue after it aired, and one Threads user directly responded to Gunn’s post about the trailer, writing that “there’s plenty of time to refine the CG.”
“There is absolutely zero CG in his face. People’s faces can look different when you put a wide angle lens up close,” Gunn wrote in response. “The background plate in Svalbard is 100% real as is David.”

The latestSupermanspot gives fans a glimpse at Corenswet, 31, andNicholas Houltin their respective roles as Clark Kent/Superman and Lex Luthor in the upcoming reboot. The movie also starsRachel Brosnahanas Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern.
“The thing that I was the most worried about was casting Superman at the beginning of this process,” Gunn shared at the time. “And after the first day, I was like, ‘Oh, I think that guy’s pretty good.’ "
Gunn is hard at work at establishing and fleshing out his newly-founded DC universe.
On Jan. 23, the filmmakerconfirmed in a post on Xthat DC Studios and director Craig Gillespie have started production onSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, in which Milly Alcock will star as the titular superhero.Jason Momoahas also confirmed he has a role in that movie as the character Lobo.
Supermanis in theaters July 11.
