During Sunday’s ceremony, the HBO crime drama beat outDopesick,Dr. Death,It’s a Sin,Maid,Midnight Mass,The Underground RailroadandWandaVisionfor best limited series.
Accepting the award with several others onstage, executive producer Mark Roybal thanked the show’s producers and “unbelievable cast,” as well as their studio and “the critics who got us up here on stage.”
“And also to applaud our fellow nominees, for making one of the best years of television under the most unbelievable circumstances,” he went on.
“To the incandescentKate Winslet, our Mare, our North Star,” Roybal also said, in part. “Thank you for your brilliance.”

“Lastly, we dedicate this award to the mothers out there, because we certainly put you through the hell in our show,” Roybal added. “We set out to make our show about the invaluable lessons you mothers have taught us, specifically mercy and compassion — things we need more than ever in the world right now.”

Previously, Winslet teased the possibility of asecondMare of Easttownseason.
“I honestly don’t have a clear answer,” the actress, who alsoearned a Screen Actors Guild Awardfor her performance, toldE! Newsin September.
“I mean, there have been conversations about it, of course, because the success of the show really did surprise us all,” Winslet continued. “And then somehow, it became this cultural moment, this zeitgeist moment, that captured people’s attention in a really remarkable way.”
The 27th annual Critics Choice Awards are currently airing on The CW and TBS.
