Mandy Mooreis ready to “really lean into enjoying the holiday season.”
This year, theThis Is Usstar, 39, says she is feeling settled into her home and is eager to start new traditions with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, and their two children:Augustus “Gus” Harrison, 2, andOscar “Ozzie” Bennett, 14 months.
“We’re putting down roots and figuring out what new traditions are going to come around for the holidays. That’s an exciting prospect. What are we going to do now every year that’s going to feel special?” Moore tells PEOPLE.
Regardless of what traditions theTangledactress and her family choose, their cats will be part of the celebrations.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had any part of my life where I haven’t had cats in it,” says Moore, who currently hasthree cats: Fig, Olivia, and Peanut.
Moore plans to give the three cats their own stockings packed with holiday presents.

“Everybody gets their own stocking, so everyone feels included, but they love nothing more than some crinkled up wrapping paper and boxes,” the singer-songwriter says of the holiday traditions she has in place for her pets. “Everyone’s going to be happy on Christmas morning, that’s for sure.”
“I just have kids that want to go and take ornaments off, but the cats are somehow leaving the tree alone,” Moore says.
But even if the cats did dabble in Christmas tree destruction, Moore would love them all the same because she says, “Cats changed my life.”
“Cats were my first pet, my first foray into any sort of understanding of responsibility,” she adds.
