The Queen of Versaillesis getting closer to Broadway.

Last week, producers for thenew musical adaptation of Lauren Greenfield’s award-winning 2012 documentary— about socialiteJacqueline “Jackie” Siegeland “Timeshare King” husband David Siegel’s still-unfinished $100 million quest to build the biggest private home in America — announced it will make its world premiere at Boston’s historic Emerson Colonial Theatre this summer.

Starring Tony and Emmy award winnerKristin Chenowethas Jackie and Oscar winnerF. Murray Abrahamas David,The Queen of Versailleswill begin performances on Tuesday, July 16. The strictly limited five-week engagement plays through Sunday, Aug. 18.

Like the documentary itself, the musical will explore “the true cost of fame, fortune, and family” through the eyes of Jackie and David, whose dreams begin to crumble — along with their lavish lifestyle — while building their grandiose mansion in Orlando, Florida with the Great Recession of 2008 looming.

“The American Dream is still under construction,” a tagline for the musical reads in a trailer shared onsocial media.

Chenoweth, 55, is once again teaming up with celebrated Oscar-winning songwriter Stephen Schwartz forThe Queen of Versailles, her former collaborator inWicked.He’s also the composer behind such beloved Broadway scores such asPippinandGodspell, and has contributed lyrics to a number of popular films such asPocahontas,The Hunchback of Notre Dame,The Prince of EgyptandEnchanted.

Kristin Chenoweth Meets Jackie Siegel After Being Cast as Her in ‘Queen of Versailles’ Musical

Last March, PEOPLE shared an exclusive photo from Chenoweth’s meeting with Jackie Siegel, which took place backstage at the Artis—Naples in Florida, a day after an industry reading of the musical took place in New York City.

The duo were all smiles for the snap, with Chenoweth wearing a bedazzled hot pink spaghetti strap dress. She accessorized the look with silver shoes, a matching chain necklace and pink studded earrings.

Fans hoping to see the completion of Jackie’s home can tune intoThe Queen of Versailles Reigns Again, a 2022 reality series that follows Jackie and David’s work to finish construction on their home. More than 20 years in the making, the 90,000 square-foot property includes five kitchens, a 35-car garage, a 150-person dining room, ballroom and a British-style pub.

The series is now streaming on Max and Discovery+.
