Last week, Prince Williamwished his wife a happy birthdayon the duo’s shared social media account. Accompanying the sweet message was a never-before-seen portrait of the Princess of Wales, 43, who wore a toasty gingham scarf — a pattern that’s typically reserved for the warmer months of the year.

You see, the portrait was actually taken last summer. But since a scarf (or any other piece of clothing, for that matter) can be warm and wintry with the right material, there’s no reason why you can’t wear gingham now.
