France ’s interior railway manipulator , SNCF , latterly ordered 2,000 new train at a cost of more than $ 20 billion . Now , it ’s found out that they ’re too big for many of the Stations of the Cross they ’re supposed to fall out through . And this is n’t the sort of club you could refund .
The Guardian reportsthat the new gearing , bed as TERs ( train express regionaux ) , are too wide to decently pass along through one in six of the regional stations they should serve . The rationality for the mix up ? The interior runway operator , RFF , only supplied dimensions for station built in the last 30 years .
Unsurprisingly , older station are a niggling more … compact . Indeed , it was found that they were so narrow that two of the novel trains — which are already being build ready for use of goods and services in 2016 — would be unable to pass alongside each other on adjacent production line . A voice from the RFF toldThe Guardian :
