Few doer in the entire world are morequalified to talk about franchisesthan Djimon Hounsou . The humans who most mass first converge when he did Steven Spielberg ’s Amistad has since made an incredible life history for himself jumpingbetween antic moving picture macrocosm . His latest stumble takes him to Rebel Moon , a two - part sci - fi epic from director Zack Snyder and Netflix . Hounsou thinks it ’s Snyder himself that not only makes Rebel Moon unique but gives it a chance to grow into something more .
“ The thing that ’s unique about Rebel Moon is the story . The centre of the story , in which I could see the relevancy of our reality , ” Hounsou told io9 over video chat . “ The relevance of our reality , in a way , add up off the Sir Frederick Handley Page . I can talk for the geopolitical tentacles that have been holding the continent of Africa back for centuries . That felt like it came off the Thomas Nelson Page . Just the makeup of the continent , to the manner he was able to tell the story of today in such an organic and grounded room really take out me [ in ] and speak volumes about the state of affairs today . ”

So the spectrum of really bringing this biography [ together ] it ’s unbelievable to see . I mean , the gentleman’s gentleman is tireless . The way he approached the oeuvre and the fact that he ’s embraced each part with our own little ethnic essence … He ’s wreak a global cast together in a fashion that rarely anybody ever does . I mean you ca n’t be more diverse than this . ”
Another thing that pass water Snyder unique is his fan foundation . Snyder is a movie maker with a very passionate , very vocal fanbase , and Hounsou admits that burden is something he felt go into the labor . “ I think it does determine you a little moment , ” he said . “ This is the man who iconically created a pic called 300 .
