Wedding bells will soon be ringing forDemi LovatoandJordan ‘Jutes’ Lutes!
The couple — who went public with their romance in August 2022 — got engaged on Saturday in Los Angeles, a rep for the singer confirms exclusively to PEOPLE.
After a “personal and intimate proposal,” Lutes and Lovato (who uses she/they pronouns) headed toCraig’s, one of their favorite L.A. restaurants, to celebrate with their families.
On Lovato’s 31st birthday in August,Lutes shared a carousel of sweet selfiesand silly videos paying tribute to his now-fiancée.
“happy birthday to my best friend. you’re obvs the most beautiful and talented person to ever do it,” he captioned the post. “but more importantly you’re weird af and u make me cry laughing.”
Aside fromco-writing “Substance” with Lovato, Lutes also shares writing credits on her tracks “Happy Ending” and “City of Angels,” all off Lovato’s eighth albumHoly Fvck.
“I definitely am in a really good place,” Lovato toldCBS Morningsearlier this year while promoting their new music. “I don’t know what I’m going to write about on my next album because I’m so happy. It is a really good feeling …definitely a bunch of sappy lovesongs — for sure.”
In July Lovatoopened up to SiriusXM’sThe Morning Mash Upabout their love story, saying they were “friends first and foremost.”
“We became friends first. We were friends for several months and then wedecided to start datingand well, after we told each other how we felt,” said Lovato.
Marking his birthday in March, Lovato called the indie rocker her “sweet angel” in aheartfelt social media post.
“I’ve waited my whole life to find you and I can’t wait to celebrate so many more birthdays together.. you’re a literal dream come true and I’m so grateful to call you mine,” she wrote on Instagram.
