Danielle Brooksis officially an EGOT nominee!
TheColor Purplestar, 34, is up for a Best Supporting Actress statuette at theOscars2024 ceremony this March, for her role as Sofia in the musical period drama.
She previously nabbed nominations for the other three letters in “EGOT” —Emmy Awardsin 2021 and 2023, aGrammy Awardin 2017 (which she won!) and aTony Awardin 2016.
And on Friday, she noted that “somebody has caught on” to the distinction, adding a winking-face emoji as sheretweeted a poston X (formerly known as Twitter) that proclaimed,“Danielle Brooks is now an EGOT nominee!”

“Playing Sofia has been the highlight of my career,” she wrote. “Getting to live in the complexities of who she is - the quiet moments, the strong ones, the joy and sorrow - have all shaped me for this moment in time.”

At the Oscars in March, Brooks will face off in the Best Supporting Actress category againstEmily BluntforOppenheimer,America FerreraforBarbie,Jodie FosterforNyadandDa’Vine Joy RandolphforThe Holdovers.
“I am still processing the fact that I became an Academy Award Nominee yesterday for a role that means everything to me,” Brookswrote on InstagramWednesday. “The Color Purple has changed my life in ways I don’t think I’ll ever be able to express but MY GOD!! Look What God Has Done!”
