The Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate established by Edward III in 1337 to provide an income for the heir to the throne. The Prince of Wales became the 24th Duke of Cornwall on The Queen’s accession to the throne in 1952. The Duchy is run in accordance with The Prince’s own social and environmental values. The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall are on a 3-day visit to the southwestern region to celebrate the Prince of Wales' 70th year as the Duke of Cornwall.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwalladded some humor to her birthday thank-you notes.

“Thank you for your birthday message,” Camilla said on a postcard featuring her royal monogram. “I can’t quite believe that I’ve reached three quarters of a century!” The note was signed simply “Camilla.”

In addition to the message, the card featured a smiling photo of Camilla from her trip to Jordan withPrince Charles, 73, last year.

In honor of her milestone birthday, the palace released anew portraitwhere Camilla is seen with a bowl of peaches that were homegrown in her garden.

Inanother snapfrom the photo shoot with Chris Jackson that was released to thank people for their good wishes, Camilla’s rescue dog Beth sits on her lap outside in the garden of her home in Raymill, Wiltshire.

According toThe Telegraph,Country Lifeeditor Mark Hedges asked Camilla if she had any thoughts about the photos.

“She immediately replied, ‘Oh, I’d quite like Catherine to do it,'” Hedges said. “I spent the next three or four minutes desperately racking my brains trying to think of a professional photographer called Catherine. Then suddenly I grasped what she meant — one of the most amazing things that could happen. I found it one of the easier things to nod my head at.”
