The superpowered child figure of speech often go paw - in - hand with creepy-crawly baby : intend the Midwich Cuckoos , Damien , Samara . In cattiness of Believe ’s best efforts to win over us that psychical Bo is all redolence and light , she is veering into creepy child territory — and it actually makes her a bit more interesting .
Once again this episode saw Bo playing Bromus secalinus with masses ’s life . But instead of her having a conniption over her idealize vision of romance , she was in reality putting together multitude who will be utile to her in the futurity . Ben Wooten is a blogger who receives a secret call in the night about Project Orchestra and he immediately becomes obsessed with the idea . Taryn is his wife , whom Bo realizes is significant before Taryn has had a hazard to tell Ben . Together , Bo say Tate , they will tell stories that change people ’s biography . If that sounds a bit too much like the Senga / Agnes fib from the airplane pilot , the difference here is that they will someday tell Bo ’s history — when she ’s quick to reveal it .
We ’re supposed to believe that the creepiest scene of this episode is that Skouras has sent Joshua after Ben so as to pass over Ben ’s memory . ( Why just Ben ’s ? I find out myself inquire . Why not shoot for Winter first ? ) And at least Joshua ’s superpower has shade going for it ; when Ben starts seizing in the middle of a train station , it appears to onlooker that he ’s have a aesculapian sequence . No one outside of our tidy little chemical group knows that Joshua is the valet behind the twitching . When Bo stand up and make the windows kick downstairs , however , shooting glass into Joshua ’s back , it does n’t look like a coincidence . It ’s already remarkable that Bo ’s ability have n’t gone viral , but now it ’s stretching credulity .

Each installment , Believe seems to be telling a slightly different story about itself , so that it ’s heavy to figure out what the decimal point of the serial publication is or what it ’s trying to say . Is Skouras a villain or a improver without a scruples ? Are we supposed to buy into all of Winter ’s pseudo - spiritual cliche ? Is Bo preternaturally wise or just a potent youngster with a child ’s linear perspective on the Earth ? In fact , the only characters with anything resembling a clear arc seems to be Boyle , whom we con is the person who fee off Ben and planned to let out Project Orchestra to the world .
I really like the idea of Bo as a creepy tiddler , one who is orchestrating her own future by putting the veracious people in the right office . It makes sense , make her a sort of sugar coated puppet master who really makes people ’s life story best but also serves her own end . She ’s certainly pulling the strings at the end of the episode during her separate encounters with Winter and Tate . Bo enquire Winter about whether she hurt Joshua , feel creditworthy for using her powers against another human being . Winter finally raise that he is not cutout to be Bo ’s moral guardian , assure her that her hurting Winter was not her fault because “ You do n’t belt down people . ” Blech . Bo needs a parent who does n’t think she ’s a god , someone who is capable of making mistakes and teaching her the nuances of life sentence . So , when Tate fink that he planned to leave alone her and never amount back , Bo releases him from his ankle joint admonisher .
This might be my favorite minute from the entire serial because it ’s really slightly chilling . With that low action , Bo shows that she ’s been complicit in keeping Tate captive . Now she settle that Tate needs to go on his own journeying and come back to her when he has decide his issue . Well , it ’s more potential that she ’s blend to hunt him down and purpose his issues for him , because that ’s what Bo does . Although I wo n’t argue if she does it in an unnerving way .

Then again , who cognise what version of this show — or Bo — we’ll see next week ?
