We ’ve been rooter of filmmaker Jerónimo Rocha since we first saw his unsettlingscifi repugnance short , Dédalo . His latest , Macabre , is quite a bit unlike in some ways ( the biggest : it ’s animated instead of resilient - action ) , but it ’s also the tale of a lone survivor catch in an utterly terrific situation .
In this lawsuit , the admirer is a run aground motorist who bumble into a convenient nearby mansion filled with unknown artifacts , and , he soon take in , is actually a shape - shifting topographic point that ’s unquestionably not of this world . The black and white-hot ( with occasional dabs of color ) spiritedness is very coolheaded , and you wo n’t even notice the lack of talks , since the music is so expressive .
Damn , that ’s a hell of an ending .
