Director Gareth Edwards would be back and iconic behemoth Rodan , Mothra and Ghidorah would appear opposite Godzilla . Then , something happened . Edwards was extend the job of a lifetime directing Star Wars Anthology : Rogue One . Instead of cull a fresh director , the studio apartment make up one’s mind to hold off on Edwards , which is why Godzilla 2 is scheduled for release June 8 , 2018 , about 18 months after Rogue One score field of operations . But it ’s coming .
Here ’s hoping Borenstein ’s quote intend that now that the world is demonstrate , we ’ll see a bit more action in the continuation . The first movie is solid , but wow is it a tedious burn to get to that turn on finis .
